Semester schools only
Fulltime program - 4 days/wk.
Treated as adults not as students
CURRICULUM
400 hrs. long
-basic military training
a) drill map using hygiene
b) law weapons history (safety important)
c) basic military subjects
d) first aid fitness fieldcraft
-in and out of classroom program
EQUIVALENCY
2 or 3 credits
Usually 1 Phys Ed.
2 Career exploration/guidance also Geography and History
WEEKLY ROUTINE
-Monday-in school Tues-Friday 5.75 hrs. on course 9:30am-3:15pm
-Occasional week night or weekend training sessions
-One full week (24 hr. days).
INSTRUCTION
-Trained instructors - journals/assignments
-Monitoring - PO checks & testing
-Assessment folders
ENTRY CRITERIA
-Canadian Citizen (L1) -medically fit -men 17 years of age
-Grade 10 Eng. & Math - belong to a unit
TIMINGS
-Co-ordination Sept./Oct.-Sign up Oct./Dec.
-Processing Oct./Feb.-Course Feb./June
LOGISTICS
-Liabilities - covered by Crown not W.C.B.
-Pay-1/2 day pay at site
-Transportation-between school & students to base - after base pays for movement of students
-Lunch costs supplied by base training
ISSUES TO DEAL WITH
-Processing of students into program
-Equipment-must be issued before starting program
-Code of service discipline-subject to military law
