|
The CD Network is to an electronic network of people who are interested in and/or are involved in addressing the career development needs of individuals, young and old, in-school and out-of-school throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Our hope is that our CD Network will allow us to support each other as individuals and as a group and will enable us to develop a more effective career development voice in our province. With increased communication, coupled with a personal commitment to work together, will come increased support to allow us to better serve our people in addressing their career development needs. Where did this CD Network - Newfoundland and Labrador come from ?The idea to connect electronically with people in the field of career development throughout Newfoundland and Labrador evolved out of a meeting held at the M.U.N. Student Centre in the Fall, 2000. Pat Roberts (Canadian Career Information Partnership), Rob Shea (Memorial University, Centre for Career Development and Experiential Learning), Karen Youden Walsh (YMCA-YWCA, Community and Employment Programs), Millie Cahill (M.U.N. Faculty of Education), and John Hennebury (Community Career Centre ) agreed to move the idea forward. The initial response from people in the field has been most encouraging. Why the Community Career Centre Web Site ?One of the goals of the Community Career Centre is to maximize our community's resources to support individuals on their career development journeys. The Community Career Centre has had a leadership role in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the CD Network since its inception. Connecting with and working with colleagues in other regions of our province will help us all move forward to achieving our goals.
